Norristown Honors Firefighters For Their Heroic Actions During Tropical Storm Ida

Almost a dozen Norristown Fire Department firefighters received special citations and awards for their heroic actions as Tropical Storm Ida ravaged the Norristown community in early September.

Norristown Fire Chief Tom O’Donnell presented the department’s award of valor, award of merit and unit citations at the Norristown Municipal Council meeting on Dec. 7.  Ida dropped record rainfall in the municipality as it passed through from Sept. 1 – 2. 2021. 

Norristown firefighters worked through raging flood waters around the clock to rescue people from flooded areas.  Amongst the recipients were volunteer Firefighters, Judge Greg Scott, Buck "Da Cowboy Jones.

Award of Valor were issued to Firefighters Anthony Molchany, Ryan O’Donnell and Robert Spitko.

Award of Merit were issued to Firefighters Ryan Conboy, Ryan Hunsicker, Kevin Murphy, and Charles Scott.

Unit Citations were issued A Platoon and the Marine 27 Water Rescue Team.
