Montgomery County Re-opens West Valley Green Bridge in Whitemarsh Township

Montgomery County officials announced today that interim safety repairs on the West Valley Green Bridge over the Wissahickon Creek in Whitemarsh Township were completed on May 14, 2020.

The bridge is open to vehicle traffic under three tons in weight and under 7 feet in height.

“While this interim project enables the bridge to be opened, the project to fully replace the bridge continues to progress through design and review phases,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair, Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.

As part of the repair project, additional traffic control measures were installed along West Valley Green Road to increase attention and compliance to the height and weight limit. The newly opened bridge will continue to be inspected in compliance with PennDOT regulations no less than every six months to monitor the bridge condition and safety.
